ndia and Pakistan have summoned each other’s top diplomats in Delhi and Islamabad after two of their naval vessels collided in the Arabian Sea Trending News.

On the same day, Pakistan also summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad, lodging its complaint against what it called a “highly provocative and unacceptable” action by India’s naval vessel.

Soldiers start new training to ‘adapt to current drone threats’

Soldiers are swapping military life for university study as part of a new degree designed to prepare the next generation of drone and robotics engineers.

The Autonomous Robotics programme has been developed in partnership with the Army, with military personnel studying alongside civilian students on two and three-year engineering degrees.

The course is being delivered by the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE), a specialist engineering higher education institution in Hereford.

For some of the soldiers taking part, the move from active service to academic life represents a dramatic change of pace.

Thirty-one-year-old Sgt Callum Dervey joined the Army at 18 after leaving school with what he describes as “a few GCSEs”.

Now, after 13 years of military service, he has returned to education.

“I’m now back in a cohort of people who are much younger than myself,” he said.

“Coming back into an academic setting is certainly already starting to feel challenging, but I’m sure it’s going to get easier.”

India’s biggest stock exchange launches mega share sale

India’s main stock exchange is offering its shares to the public for the first time, ending a decade-long wait for one of the country’s most closely watched stock-market listings.

The National Stock Exchange, which operates the market where most Indian shares are traded, hopes to raise as much as 225.69bn rupees ($2.35bn; £1.75bn).

That would make it India’s second-biggest share sale, behind the 2024 listing of Hyundai’s Indian unit.

The shares are priced at between 1,700 and 1,785 rupees each. The sale involves existing investors – including the State Bank of India, insurance companies and investment funds – reducing their stakes. The NSE is not issuing new shares and will not receive any of the proceeds.

Its listing comes ahead of another eagerly awaited Indian IPO. “This is a mega IPO which will be followed by another mega IPO, Jio Platforms,” Gaurav Dua of Standard Chartered Securities told the BBC.

He said the large listings could put short-term pressure on the wider market by absorbing money that investors might otherwise spend on shares already being traded.

Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman may visit New Delhi in November: Report

angladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman may visit India in November or early December as New Delhi and Dhaka work to restart high-level engagement and reset bilateral ties, News18 reported on Friday.

“After brief disruptions, talks have resumed, official-level talks to firm up plans for a visit of Tariq Rahman to New Delhi. The agenda is being worked out,” the report said.

The proposed visit is still being discussed and no final date has been announced. November is emerging as a possible window for the trip, according to the report.

Rahman took office as Bangladesh prime minister in February 2026. He has not yet made an official bilateral visit to India.

India sent two invitations to Rahman

The possible visit comes days after India clarified that Rahman had received two separate invitations from New Delhi.

External affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on September 15 that one invitation was for a bilateral visit and the other was for the Brics Summit, which India hosted in New Delhi.

“We had invited Prime Minister of Bangladesh on a bilateral visit, as also subsequently he was invited for the BRICS Summit as Chair of BIMSTEC. So he had received two invitations, one on the bilateral side and the other for the BRICS Summit as well,” Jaiswal said
